Navy, DLA prepare for industrial aviation supply chain integration

When DLA welcomed about 450 former Navy employees to its DSCR-managed aviation team, the transfer-in-place of the employees was referred to as "Day One" of BRAC 2005 implementation. Last week, more than 100 sailors, civilian employees and contractors met at DSCR to prepare for "Day Two" – the transfer of consumable stock and implementation of new management tools.

As a combat developer for the Army at Fort Lee, Va., Marella Akridge joined Defense Supply Center Richmond – Defense Logistics Agency’s aviation demand and supply chain manager – for a five-month rotational assignment that will round out her education and experience by giving her a chance to learn how those weapons systems are sustained once operational.

Navy Rear Adm. Vincent Griffith, commander Defense Supply Center Richmond, Va., was made an honorary member of the Richmond Area Top III (RAT III) during a small ceremony at DSCR March 3.
